July 20, 2009 (Edmonton, AB) – It’s rare to find families who jive well together in life and business, but Amrit and Paramjit Dhesi, a mother and daughter duo from Calgary, are doing just that with the opening of the newest Pizza 73 location in Okotoks.
“We’re a big family and we’ve all been wanting this store for a long time,” gushes Paramjit. “My mom is the manager but we all know we have a part to play in ensuring that our food and service exceed expectations every day.”
Going above and beyond is something the Dhesi family knows a lot about. As 12-year owners of Calgary’s Kohinoor Sweets & Restaurant, the Dhesis built a solid reputation for what was widely known as one of the best Indian restaurants in the city. They did so by never sacrificing on quality or taste.
“When competitors were cutting corners on food quality to lower their prices, my family was not willing to compromise,” recalls Paramjit. “To us, quality food combined with fast, friendly service is what our business philosophy is all about.”
Located at Unit 14, 34 Southridge Drive, the city’s first Pizza 73 restaurant is one of five new concept restaurants which hosts in-store family seating for six people, offers pizza by the slice, and features longer operating hours from lunch to late night. The opening of this location highlights a growing demand for Pizza 73 in the community and the success of the joint venture model in attracting local entrepreneurs.
“Our team works closely with local entrepreneurs to identify growing markets whose residents have demonstrated a need and appetite for new dining options,” notes Pat Finelli, chief marketing officer for Pizza 73. “Our goal has always been to provide more choice, value and quality to customers with the help of local partners who are looking for a stable and enjoyable career.”
In conjunction with a recent store opening in Fort Saskatchewan, Pizza 73 now has 71 locations in western Canada.
The owners currently employ 10 staff and are looking for three part-time employees to join the team.
